Centennial Furnace Troubleshooting Checklist

If you’re having trouble with your furnace, it’s best to leave whatever furnace repair you might need to a professionally trained and experienced technician. After all, whenever you’re dealing with the combination of electricity, natural gas, and internal components that ignite flames, you can only imagine how dangerous it would be for someone who doesn’t have training or experience in furnace repair procedures to make a mistake while trying to repair the furnace themselves.

However, there are three or four things you can check before requesting furnace repair service, just to make sure the problem isn’t something other than a malfunctioning furnace.

Furnace Troubleshooting Steps For Centennial Homeowners

Make sure the furnace disconnect switch hasn’t been turned off by mistake. You should have a switch somewhere near your furnace that looks like a light switch. It’s actually called a disconnect switch, and it’s used to turn the power to your furnace off without having to flip the breaker. The disconnect switch should be located reasonably close to your furnace. If your furnace is located in your basement, the switch should be in the basement as well. Sometimes the switch will be black to distinguish it from a standard light switch, which is usually a white or tan color. Check to make sure the power to your furnace hasn’t been turned off because someone flipped the disconnect switch off by accident.

Check the air filter in your furnace. If the filter is at all dirty, take the filter out and replace it with a new filter. Dirty air filters are a leading cause of failures in heating and air conditioning systems. The dirt and debris that gets trapped in the air filter restricts the airflow in your system, and stresses the components in your furnace. Although most air filters you see in stores indicate that you only need to change them every three months, it’s usually best to buy less expensive air filters for your furnace, and just change them every month. That will ensure you always have a clean air filter, and it’s also easier to stay in the habit of doing something consistently on the 1st of every month.

Look at the breakers inside your electrical panel to make sure the breaker for your furnace hasn’t tripped. In some cases, even if the breaker doesn’t seem like it’s obviously been tripped, you might go ahead and push the breaker all the way off, and then push it back to the on position just to make sure it wasn’t tripped. Not every breaker gives the same clear indication that its been tripped.

If you haven’t changed the batteries in your thermostat in a while, now would be a good time to make sure they don’t need to be changed. If the batteries in your thermostat are getting low, it can cause a problem with the operation of your furnace. it’s a good rule of thumb to replace your thermostat batteries every 6 months, so if you can’t remember the last time you changed them, it can’t hurt to go ahead ad change the batteries and see if that solves the problem.

Facts About Centennial, Colorado

Interesting fact about Centennial, it’s been recognized as the safest city in Colorado for the last eight years. That’s probably why it’s also been one of the metro Denver area’s fastest growing suburbs over the last several years.

Located in Arapahoe County, Colorado and divided almost in half by Interstate 25, Centennial’s population has exploded to over 109,000 people. In the 2010 census, the population was just over 100,000. Centennial was only incorporated as a city in 2001, but at the time it’s incorporation was the largest in the history of the U.S. for a new city.

Known for great schools and reasonably priced housing (for the Denver market anyway), it’s no wonder Centennial is such a popular place for families to settle.

Landmarks And Attractions Around Centennial, CO
Denver Broncos & The Centennial Airport

Although the Denver broncos training facility is located in the Centennial/Englewood corridor, my favorite place to go by far is the Centennial Airport. As an avid private pilot for over 20 years, I can tell you that the Centennial Airport is one of the best private airports in the Western united States. It’s classified as an international facility, and has 24-hour a day U.S. Customs staffing, and the F.A.A. control tower is in operation 24 hours a day 7 days a week as well.

The Centennial airport also boasts an award-winning restaurant named The Perfect Landing Restaurant, which has been named Best Business Breakfast Spot.

The Centennial Promenade is an expansive shopping center with several good restaurants, and one of the best golf stores you will find outside of a PGA SuperStore. Yes, Centennial has one of those as well, but the Golf Galaxy Extreme store in Centennial Promenade is a terrific golf shop, even it doesn’t match the size and enormous selection of the PGA Tour SuperStore that’s also in Centennial.

The Centennial Promenade is actually located directly across the street from the Park Meadows Mall, which has a Lone tree, Colorado address.
